No cricket with Pakistan: Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel
Mumbai: Irfan Pathan and Parthiv Patel have come out in support of Indian cricket board’s stand to not play cricket with Pakistan.
The Indian cricketers have expressed solidarity with the nation and the Indian army and feel that it is not the right time to play cricket with Pakistan.
“For me country comes first, we must support whatever the Government decides in such situations,” said Irfan Pathan in the backdrop of Uri attacks.
Parthiv Patel second the opinion of Irfan.
“BCCI president has clearly said that (there is) no question of cricket with Pakistan, so we support it and also our Government's stand,” Parthiv Patel said.
The question of playing cricket with Pakistan had earlier drawn a sharp rebuke from the BCCI president Anurag Thakur, who ruled out any possibility of reviving bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan in near future.
"In the context of what has happened even considering such a thought is not appropriate," Thakur told the media.
Thakur’s statement was ridiculed by former Pakistan cricketers, who feel India have avoided playing cricket with Pakistan even when the ties between the countries were better.
