Sachin Tendulkar revealed how a scolding from former coach Ramakant Achrekar changed his life.

Mumbai: Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has learnt many lessons on his way to reach the highest echelons of the sport. Even after retirement, the God of Cricket continues to guide every young cricketer with his valuable inputs.

As the world celebrated Teachers Day on Tuesday, the Indian cricket legend took to Twitter to greet all his teachers and offered his gratitude for the necessary lessons that made him who he is today.

In the video, the former Indian batsman portrays an incident during his childhood that was a life changing moment.

Tendulkar talks about his childhood days when he still learning the ropes in the sport under coach Ramakant Achrekar.

"I only played for the junior school team and our school senior team was playing the Harris Shields final at the Wankhede Stadium. My coach, Ramakant Achrekar sir, had arranged a practice match for me and I was told to attend the practice match right after school. However, I left the practice match and was sitting in the stands of the Wankhede Stadium to cheer the senior team. After the match ended, I saw Achrekar sir and went to greet him," Tendulkar narrates.

"On knowing I bunked the match to cheer for my senior team, he scolded in front of everyone. He said, ‘You don't have to clap and cheer for others, you concentrate on your cricket, achieve something big in life so that others can clap and cheer for you.’ And this was one of my greatest lessons of life," Tendulkar adds.
