Sabbir Rahman replies to Virat Kohli comparison by Nathan Lyon, roasted on Twitter
Chittagong: Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman was slammed on Twitter after he, on Monday, stated that he can reach the heights of Virat Kohli, responding to Nathan Lyon’s comparison of him with the India skipper.
Rahman may not have a lot of Test cricket experience, but he instantly made an impression on the Australian spinner after he resurrected the Bangladeshi innings with an aggressive half-century when they were 5 wickets down for 117 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Rahman fearlessly went after Lyon, but it was the Australian spinner who had the last laugh after he dismissed the batsman who tried to drag a stray delivery down the leg side but was smartly stumped by keeper Matthew Wade.
"He’s a good player, he reminds me of Virat Kohli and that's a good role model to have in the subcontinent," Lyon said at the end of stumps on Day 1.
"That’s his persona out there, the way he walks around the crease and the shots he has played. We find that he doesn’t really want to defend, he wants to take the game on so that is brave cricket," Lyon added.
Overwhelmed by the Australian bowler's compliment, Rahman was optimistic about replicating Virat Kohli’s feats.
"I can become a batsman like Virat Kohli, everything is possible,” said the 25-year-old.
However, his comment did not go down well with many Indian fans who went after him on Twitter.
