Deepansh hits double ton, Tanmay smashes century
Hyderabad: Deepansh Bhuchar of Gemini friends smashed a brilliant double century along with the tailender Abdul Ela Al Qureshi who missed his ton by a run while Tanmay Agarwal hit a composed ton for Sporting XI on Day One to hog the limelight in the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s top division three-day league here on Tuesday.
Gemini Friends posted 366 on the board before being bowled out in 84.4 overs in their Pool ‘B’ match against Cambridge XI. Using the crease first, Gemini’s batsmen surrendered to the guiles of Mehdi Hasan who ripped into batting line-up. The left-arm spinner’s figures read 28.4-5-87-5.
However, Deepansh Bhuchar stood firm at one end to smash the bowlers all over the park. The right hand batsman scored 208 in 248 balls with 25 fours and five maximums in his account. It was the No. 10 batsman Abdul Ela who came as a surprise package and played a supporting role by scoring 99 over a strike-rate of 100+. Abdul was unfortunate to fall short of the three-digit mark. He struck 15 fours in his 96-ball knock. At stumps, Cambridge XI were 10/0 in 3 overs.
In a Pool ‘A’ match, Sporting XI were on top against the EMCC side as they finished the day with 270/3 in 90 overs.
Tanmay Agarwal led his side’s batting from the front as the southpaw scored 135 while Mir Jaweed Ali was still unbeaten on 46. In his 183-ball innings, Tanmay dispatched 17 fours and four sixes.
Meanwhile, P. Praneeth Reddy of Evergreen picked five wickets while giving away 61 runs with six maidens and Sagar Sharma scalped 5 for 73 for AOC to top the bowling charts.
