IPL 2018: Squads, match-timings, schedule, venues, live telecast and more

All the eight franchises will be going out all guns blazing and become the ultimate champion.

Mumbai: The eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will get underway on Saturday 7th April, when the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) face their fiercest rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first match of the tournament at the Wankhede Stadium.

All the eight teams will be battling out to lift the coveted trophy with MS Dhoni-led CSK and Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals making a comeback after being out for two years due to spot-fixing .

The event, which will be spread across 51 days, will witness 60 matches being played, with two qualifiers and an eliminator, followed by the final on 27 May at the Wankhede Stadium.

Even before the league could get underway, the names of some top cricketers were withdrawn from the team's list. Steve Smith (Rajasthan Royals) and David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) were removed by their respective franchises after their involvement in the ball-tampering saga in the Test series against South Africa.
