IT officials attach HCA properties

The Hyderabad Cricket Association has run into a fresh storm.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cricket Association has run into a fresh storm, this time with the Income Tax department. Income Tax officials on Thursday attached multiple properties belonging to HCA after it defaulted on income tax arrears amounting to a whopping Rs 22.8 crore. The arrears had piled up over a period of several years during which HCA had organised several international as well as Indian Premier League cricket matches.

After failing to elicit a response from the HCA despite issuing several notices in the matter, the IT department took the decision to seal land acquired by HCA in Nizamabad and Mahbubnagar. This includes a five-acre piece of land (survey numbers 248, 260; Document No. 6372/2009) in Gopanpally village, Shivar Mandal, Nizamabad district.
