Heady fight at the HCA

Both have issued notices to the members to convene a Special General Meeting on Sunday.

Hyderabad: The simmering rift right at the top of the Hyderabad Cricket Association is now a full blown battle between secretary T. Sheshnaryan and president G. Vivekanand. Both have issued notices to the members to convene a Special General Meeting on Sunday.

While Shesh says Vivek is stepping on his toes and that he is the executive head of the Association going by the book, the latter appears to be armed with the support of the Apex Council members.

This has resulted in acerbic allegations being flung about, ranging from conflict of interest, hijacking Association’s agenda, usurping of power and undue interference in selection matters among others.

Vivek has also issued a show-cause notice to Shesh “for going against the decisions of the Apex Council.” Shesh has questioned his authority to do so. Vivek maintains “all the Apex Council members other than the Secretary have signed and referred the same to the Ombudsman to enquire into the charges against the Secretary.”

The root cause of the ruckus seems to be the decision of the Apex Council to nominate Vivek as HCA’s representative at BCCI’s SGM last month setting Shesh aside.

It’s not even an year since Shesh and Vivek, who were part of the same group, occupied hot seats at the state cricket body in elections held on January 17. Now, with the top two falling out, it remains to be seen how Sunday’s SGM pans out.
