Watch: Cake on the face! Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag celebrate Ashish Nehra farewell

The outpouring of love for Ashish Nehra continues as he ends his cricketing career.

New Delhi: While the Indian cricket team gave Ashish Nehra a fitting farewell at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Wednesday, the celebrations also took place off the cricket field, with cricket world’s beloved Nehraji had his face smacked with cake.

The Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli left no stone unturned in celebrating Nehra’s career as India beat New Zealand in the first of the three Twenty20s. While Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan carried him on their shoulders, the entire team accompanied him during a lap of honour at his homeground.

Kohli, in fact, also discussed the now famous old picture of Nehra felicitating him and how the things moved to a point when Kohli captained him and how the one when MS Dhoni and Kohli presented him with a trophy as a mark of respect ahead of Nehra’s last game.

"That was back in 2003 after he had come back from the World Cup. I was 13 then and struggling for a place in the school team,” Kohli had said.

"To have played 19 years is very hard for a fast bowler. I know how professional he's been and how hard he's worked. He deserved this kind of a farewell with the crowd cheering him. He can now spend time with his family, he's got a beautiful family. We'll stay in touch but we'll miss him and I wish him all the best," added Kohli.

A video and a few photos posted by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni fan clubs have gone viral showing Nehra with cake on his face and then Virender Sehwag, Kohli and others having a good time.

In the video, posted by @dhonikohli_fc and captioned “#ViratKohli at #AshishNehra's farewell party”, Kohli was seen feeding Nehra a cake and the left-arm pacer returning the favour.
