Delhi Police asks ED to probe IPL angle in Sunanda Pushkar death case

The Delhi police has written to Enforcement Directorate to probe the Kochi Tuskers IPL financial irregularities angle in the death case.

Mumbai: The Sunanda Pushkar death case is back in news. The Delhi police has written to Enforcement Directorate to probe the Kochi Tuskers IPL financial irregularities angle in the death case.

The Joint Commissioner of Police (South), Delhi on Tuesday asked Economic Offences Wing (EOW) to hand over all documents relating to Kochi Tuskers to ED.

EOW was investigating the financial irregularities and the shareholding pattern of the former IPL team, Kochi Tuskers.

The police investigation revolves around the 75-crore rupees sweat equity that Sunanda was offered by Rendezvous Sports World, a member of the consortium that won the bid for Kochi IPL franchise.

Sunanda was forced to give up her shares after ex-IPL chief Lalit Modi tweeted about the shareholding pattern of Kochi IPL franchise in 2010. The focus of investigation is on whether Sunanda was killed due to IPL-related issues.

Sunanda, who was married to Congress leader Sashi Tharoor was found dead in a hotel on January 17, 2014.

Several people including incumbent Thiruvananthapuram MP Tharoor have been questioned in connection with Sunanda’s death.
