Mitchell Starc claims 100th Test wicket against SL
Galle: Australia speedster Mitchell Starc claimed his 100th Test wicket during the second Test against Sri Lanka here on Thursday.
The left-arm pacer – who remained out of action for a long time due to an ankle injury which had to be operated – came back during the series against West Indies.
He dismissed the in-form Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Mendis to reach the milestone in the opening day.
The pacer also got the wicket of opener Dimuth Karunaratne in the first ball of the match. Starc is the 37th Australian bowler to reach 100 Test wickets.
He made his debut against New Zealand in 2011 and is currently playing his 27th Test.
Starc came to the forefront during the ICC World Cup 2015 Down Under where he bagged 22 wickets at 10.18 runs per over. He was named player of the tournament.
Even in ODI cricket, Starc is two short of reaching the 100-wicket mark (98 in 51 outings).
