IPL 2017: Shreyas Iyer ruled out of 1st few Delhi Daredevils games due to chicken pox
New Delhi: Shreyas Iyer has become the latest in a long list of Indian cricketers to have been ruled out of a portion of the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The 22-year-old, who earned his first Test call-up for Team India, as a replacement for injured skipper Virat Kohli during the fourth and deciding Test against Australia in Dharamsala, last month, was diagnosed with chicken pox, ahead of the IPL, which gets underway this week.
Although Iyer did not get his first Test cap in the Dharamsala Test, the young Mumbai lad earned some valuable experience, as he spent time with the Team India coaches and senior players, on the sidelines of India’s 2-1 victory in the 2017 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
While the 22-year-old is not expected to miss the entire tournament, he is set to miss out on the first few matches of the Delhi Daredevils.
Team India regulars like Ravichandran Ashwin, KL Rahul, and Murali Vijay have pulled out of the tournament due to injuries, while Ravindra Jadeja has been rested after a long season.
