Here's the latest update on R Ashwin, Murali Vijay and KL Rahul injuries

R Ashwin who has been ruled out of the upcoming IPL season due to sports hernia injury will not require surgery at this point of time.

Mumbai: India’s premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who has been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier league (IPL) season due to sports hernia injury will not require surgery at this point of time, according to his personal coach Sunil Subramaniam.

"It (sports hernia) is a terminology used by the doctors. How many overs (were) Ashwin bowled this season? It is not a serious injury. Ashwin needs rest now and no surgery is thought of,” said Subramanium.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Murali Vijay, who have also been ruled out of IPL 2017, will be accompanied by Team India physio Patrick Farhat to London for their treatment.

According to the BCCI sources, the physio will accompany them to two different doctors before the dates for their surgeries (anytime within this week) are finalised.

"Look, this is not the first instance when the physio has travelled with the players on overseas trip. India are not playing any international matches before the IPL season is over and he will be handy to assess the fitness and rehabilitation issues and co-ordinate with the surgeons in UK,” the BCCI source said.

"The physio did not accompany Rohit Sharma for his surgery (last year) because he was busy in home matches and Rohit's case was a sure surgery case, whereas Rahul's shoulder injury and Murali Vijay's wrist injury need consultation prior to their operation,” added the source.
