Hyderabad: Mayank Gupta of Fateh Maidan Club smashed a century, the first at the Secunderabad Club inter-club T-20 cricket tournament for the Kingfisher Cup, but his side ended up on the losing side on Sunday.
Mayank hit 104 as FMC set out in pursuit of Jubilee Hills International Centre’s mammoth 234/4 but fell short by 38 runs. Alankrit played second fiddle with 55 but FMC lost the momentum towards the end in the face of a climbing asking rate. Mayank was adjudged Man of the Match for his effort.
In another match, Secunderabad Club defeated Nizam Club by 21 runs. Batting first, the hosts put up a modest 130 for 7 but defended well via Mickil Jaiswal (3/24) and Anup (3/15) to bowl the opponents out for 109 in 15.4 overs. Mickil was awarded Man of the Match.
Secunderabad Club will clash with Jubilee Hills International Centre while Deccan Club will meet New Club in the semifinals scheduled on February 9, with the winners contesting the final the next day.
