Mirpur: Bowler actions in recent times has been the talk of the town specially after young Jasprit Bumrah made his debut with the Indian team Down Under.

Bumrah’s unorthodox action has found favour with Team Director Ravi Shastri and skipper MS Dhoni, besides former veteran speedsters such as Shoaib Akhtar, who have advised Bumrah’s mentors not to tamper with his action.
During the ongoing ICC Cricket U-19 World Cup, young Sri Lankan Kaminu Mendis has been grabbing eyeballs with his unique ambidextrous skill.

Mendis caught the opposition off-guard when he bowled right-arm off-breaks and left-arm orthodox in the same over during a league game against Pakistan in Mirpur.
Mendis has picked up four wickets in the three matches he’s played, with best figures of 3/36 against Afghanistan.

This is not the first time Sri Lanka have exhibited such unique talents. Former Sri Lankan batsmen Hashan Tillakaratne showcased similar abilities in a 1996 World Cup game against Kenya, when he bowled as a left-arm spinner as well as an off-spinner.
India too has seen a similar talent when Vidarbha's Akshay Karnewar displayed his ambidextrous in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy T20 tournament.
Former India cricketer, and now a commentator-turned-analyst Sanjay Manjrekar praised the young Sri Lankan talent.
