After being trolled for turning up in shorts for the toss, Virat Kohli’s fans will now be pleased to hear that the jersey he has donated will be placed next to Sachin Tendulkar’s portrait, at the Bradman Museum.
This was revealed by Monica Donoso, the Media and Cultural Projects Officer, of The Bradman Centre: The Home of Cricket Memories. Speaking from Sydney, she said, “Virat Kohli’s jersey has been given a very special place — it is at the entrance of the exhibition, beside Mr Tendulkar’s portrait. Both are a delight and awe-inspiring for visitors as they enter this landmark exhibition, and fitting as pillars of entrance into what is the truly colossal story of Indian cricket!
“At the conclusion of the fourth Test (SCG) during the 2014-15 Indian Test tour of Australia, Indian Captain Virat Kohli signed and presented his shirt to Cricket Australia Liaison Officer Pearce Gibbons in appreciation of his assistance to the Indian side throughout the summer. Shortly thereafter Pearce Gibbons donated the shirt to the museum for public display.”
Kohli’s shirt on display is numbered 269 and is signed and dated by the Indian skipper. In that Test Virat scored 147 not out in the first innings and 46 in the 2nd innings. The match was drawn.
