Ind vs Eng: Sourav Ganguly warns England of a whitewash
Mumbai: Ex-India skipper Sourav Ganguly has warned Alastair Cook-led England about a potential whitewash in a five-match Test series against India starting on November 9 in Rajkot.
The England side could not win the Test series as Mehedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan ran riot. While the Poms managed to escape a defeat in the first Test courtesy Ben Stokes, they suffered a 108–run defeat in the second Test.
India, on the other hand, have been enjoying a brilliant run of form. Before winning the ODI series 3-2 against New Zealand under MS Dhoni, India thumped New Zealand to clean sweep the three-match Test series under Virat Kohli’s leadership.
Ganguly, in a quote to IANS, said: "India are playing superb cricket. I am expecting another whitewash like the one against New Zealand. They (England) should be worried."
Ganguly though is not the only former skipper to have warned the England side of a series defeat. Following England’s lucky win in the first Bangladesh Test, former England skipper Michael Vaughan, who designed the famous Ashes win in 2005, has urged England to improve their game or else face a whitewash against India.
