Colombo: India got off to a strong start on day one of the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Thursday. The Men in Blue finished the day at 344-3, thanks to centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara (128 not out) and Ajinkya Rahane (103 not out).
Just as Rahane notched up his century, one big fan, his wife Radhika was hugely relieved. Mrs Rahane, who seemed tensed while her husband was batting on 99, soon switched to a cheerful mood saying 'finally' as Rahane reached triple figures. Here's a video of the clip:
It was after Virat Kohli departed for an unlucky 13 runs that the duo revived the Indian innings. Earlier in the day, Shikhar Dhawan departed for 35, while comeback man KL Rahul scored 57.
Pujara snapped up his 13th Test ton, while Rahane got to his 9th century. It was a fine knock from the Mumbai batsman as his innings of 168-ball 103 was entertained by 12 boundaries. Both Rahane and Pujara put up an unbeaten partnership of 211 to give India a commanding lead.
Virat Kohli's men will now look to set up a mammoth total when the duo come out to bat on Friday for day two of the Test match. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will put up their maximum effort to restrict the visitors....
