New Delhi: India cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni received the prestigious Padma Bhushan award recently on the day of a special occasion.
The Jharkhand batsman accepted the award from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan on April 2, exactly seven years after he led India to a historic World Cup win against Sri Lanka in the final.
On Tuesday, the 36-year-old took to Instagram to express his happiness on winning the award.
In his post, he wrote “An honour to get the Padma Bhushan and receiving it in Uniform increases the excitement ten folds. Thanks to all the Men and Women in Uniform and their families for the Sacrifices they make so that all of us could enjoy our Constitutional Rights. Jai Hind”.
After taking a short break from cricket, ‘Thala’ Dhoni will return back to the field as he returns to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) setup to lead the side in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
