India vs England: ODI, T20 series to be cancelled?
Mumbai: This comes as another shock for Indian cricket fans after sacking of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke by the Supreme Court.
According to reports, the removal of the BCCI chief has created some confusion and has given rise to uncertainty over staging of ODI and T20I series against England in India in January and February.
SC has asked the cricket body to nominate of their vice-presidents as the acting chief; however, BCCI is in a fix as most of the senior officials stand ineligible.
The board has long argued that implementing all of the Lodha recommendations will force the body to cancel international matches. A top BCCI official said that with most of the senior officials standing ineligible, it could become difficult for local associations to host matches without a signing authority.
Also, the incoming person has to take an undertaking stating that he would comply with all the recommendations of the Lodha panel, as directed by the apex court.
