Shobha De criticises Virat Kohli's men on Twitter while praising India eves, slammed
New Delhi: Despite losing out on their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup trophy as runners-up, the India women’s cricket team have won hearts all over the country for their efforts. And after all the praises and blessings that poured in for the India eves, Shobhaa De has sparked debate on social media for her controversial comment on the team.
The veteran columnist wished that Mithali Raj and co don’t get 'spoiled' like their male counterparts. Shobhaa De wrote, "Oh Lord! Please protect our amazing women cricketers from crass commercialisation and greed that has ruined most of our Boys in Blue."

Translation: Men can define their own success, but not women. No, we can't have women be both good at cricket and rich.

Shobhaa De also made the headlines for the wrong reasons last year during the Rio Olympics. The popular columnist claimed the Indian contingent only went to Brazil to click selfies.
“Goal of Team India at the Olympics: Rio jao. Selfies lo. Khaali haat wapas aao. What a waste of money and opportunity," she tweeted.
