Video: Virat Kohli bowls in the nets ahead of Team India's 2nd Test vs Sri Lanka

Colombo: Virat Kohli is not a man who shies away from taking up unusual roles, if and when he needs to do them.

The Team India captain proved that yet again, as he took up the ball during his side’s net practice at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, ahead of their second Test match against Sri Lanka.

Kohli was seen rolling over his arm a few times against India opener Abhinav Mukund, while being under the keen observation of bowling coach Bharat Arun.

The India captain, who spotted that the camera was on him, even proclaimed himself to be the “strike bowler” of the side that contains the likes of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, along with spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav.

The Team India members put in the hours ahead of the Colombo Test, with each batsman spending around one-and-a-half to two hours at the crease in net practice, followed by fielding sessions, explained Kohli’s deputy Ajinkya Rahane in the video.

“The boys are looking in great shape, and we’re really excited about it. We had some great memories the last time we came here,” said Rahane. “We always stick to the same routine before a Test match, for our preparations.”
