Shaun Marsh out of IPL due to back injury
Mumbai: Kings XI Punjab batsman Shaun Marsh is the latest casualty in the ongoing IPL. The 32-year-old Australian will miss the remaining tournament due to a back injury. He will head home with brother, Mitchell (Rising Pune Supergiants), who is nursing a side strain.
According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Marsh picked up the injury during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 19.
He batted and fielded against Gujarat Lions on Sunday but the injury caused him trouble in the course of the match, eventually won by Kings XI.
The report further added that Marsh is likely to fly to Australia on May 2.
Earlier, the Australian missed Kings XI’s opening match due to food poisoning.
However, Marsh scored 159 runs in six matches at an average of 31.80. The southpaw scored an unbeaten 56 off 41 balls against Kolkata but for a losing cause.
His injury further added to Kings XI’s problems in the tournament. They have only won two out of seven matches.
