Virender Sehwag will not be Kings XI Punjab's head coach
Mumbai: Virender Sehwag has decided against taking over as head coach of Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kings XI Punjab and will continue as team’s director cum mentor.
Sanjay Bangar, who was Kings XI’s head coach had earlier decided not to renew his contract and the franchise has been looking for a new coach ever since.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the franchise is looking to hire someone who has done well in Indian domestic circuit as their head coach.
Sehwag joined the franchise in 2014 as a player and later went on to become the team’s mentor post-retirement. It was speculated that Sehwag may take over the head coach role after Bangar decided to step down.
The franchise is desperately looking for a new appointee as they have endured a disappointing last two seasons in IPL.
