Former IPL chairman Ranjib Biswal hails sacking of BCCI president Anurag Thakur

'Anurag Thakur always wanted to run the BCCI administration in immature and arrogant manner. The action against him was inevitable'.

Bhubaneswar: Former Indian Premier League (IPL) chairperson and cricket administrator Ranjib Biswal on Monday hailed the sacking of BCCI president Anurag Thakur by the Supreme Court and said the action against Thakur was quite inevitable as he was running the show in an “immature” and “arrogant” manner.

“He (Anurag Thakur) always wanted to run the BCCI administration in immature, arrogant and egoistic manner. The action against him was quite inevitable. His departure from BCCI would have no impact on the cricket body,” Mr Biswal told to a local television channel here.

Stating that the BCCI was one of the well-organised and well-managed sports administration bodies in the world, Mr Biswal, the former India junior team captain under whose leadership great players like Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja had played - said BCCI would function as usual with other experienced office-bearers.

It may be mentioned here that on Monday morning, the apex court sacked Thakur from the post of BCCI president for not complying with its orders.

The SC gave its ruling on the Lodha Committee’s third status report, submitted on November 14. The report had recommended for the disqualification of office-bearers of BCCI and all state associations, who were found ineligible as per the apex court’s July 18, 2016 order.

The SC bench headed by Chief Justice of India TS Thakur said that until the names of new administrators were decided, the senior most vice-president of the BCCI would chair the meetings.
