India coach Ravi Shastri makes a big statement about Virat Kohli-MS Dhoni equation

MS Dhoni, who retired from Tests in 2015, has been heavily criticised by former cricketers due to his poor performances recently.

Mumbai: Team India head coach Ravi Shastri on Friday spoke positively on wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni and captain Virat Kohli, saying that the duo has mutual respect for each other.

Shastri was speaking during a panel discussion on the launch of journalist Rajdeep Sardesai’s new book Democracy’s XI, which was also attended by former captain Kapil Dev.

I have never seen Dhoni lose his cool. If he has, it must have been for 10 seconds. Kohli is still work in progress but he will certainly mature. I hear a lot of stories about their relationship but all those are not true. I have seen how much mutual respect the two have for each other,”he was quoted saying by PTI.

MS Dhoni, who retired from Tests in 2015, has been heavily criticised by former cricketers due to his poor performances recently. While VVS Laxman, Ajit Agarkar and Aakash Chopra has opined that Dhoni’s time is over, captain Kohli and coach ravi Shastri came in full support of the Jharkhand batsman.

The 36-year-old Dhoni is currently taking a break from cricket, with Virat Kohli and co currently playing a Test series against Sri Lanka. The former India captain will be back with the Men in Blue when they take on the Lankans in the first of the three ODIs on December 10. The ODI’s will be followed by as many T20Is.
