Gautam Gambhir opens up on his rivalry with Shahid Afridi
Mumbai: Former Indian batsman, Gautam Gambhir, has often been involved in verbal spats with former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi on the field. In recent years, they have often exchanged heated words on Twitter. Gambhir was recently questioned on his tiff with the Pakistani cricketer.
The both of them have always been at loggerheads. Here is one such instance that proves their relationship is sour.
In an interview with the Indian Express, he said, “Some fights do get personal and there is nothing wrong with that. It has been like that for a very long time. Sometimes it is nice to get personal with someone.”
The cricketer-turned-politician went on to state that he has had good relations with several Pakistani cricketers, but never did share the same thing with Shahid Afridi. He said, “I have had decent relationships with Pakistani players, off the field, but not with Shahid Afridi. So that is the reason we got personal.”
Gambhir also took a dig at Shahid Afridi’s retirement shenanigans. “Now obviously he doesn’t play but you never know, he might just make a comeback. He will never retire… There is a bit of history to that (relationship with Afridi), I am fine with that.”
