Sr. Willey given special permission to handover landmark cap to son David Willey

Interestingly, Peter Willey himself is a former international umpire

Mumbai: England bowling all-rounder David Willey played his 50th ODI against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

On the occasion of his landmark ODI, the special cap was presented by his father Peter Willey.

Interestingly, Peter Willey himself is a former international umpire.

In the current pandemic situation, the senior Willey was given special permission to handover the cap to his son.

"Mr. Peter Willey wasn’t in the (team) huddle. He was on the edge of the boundary and spoke to the players from a distance", Danny Reuben, the ECB's Head of Team Communications said exclusively.

"It was all approved by our Covid compliance officer", he further added.

The 31-year-old left-arm medium pacer Willey took 3 Sri Lankan wickets in the match won by his team.
