Mumbai: Former India captain late Ajit Wadekar will be remembered on Monday.

All India Cricket Association for Physically Challenged has organised a seminar at the Wankhede Stadium where Dilip Vengasarkar is a chief guest and among key speakers and invitees are Diana Edulji (CoA, BCCI), Ravi Sawant (EX president : MCA and the Ex-Vice President : BCCI), Saba Karim (GM, Cricket Operations, BCCI).

Wadekar was a president of the association.

Also, Ian Martin, the Head of Disability Cricket, England and Wales Cricket Board) is likely to remain present at the function.

Interestingly, Wadekar's daughter, Kashmira, now living in Singapore has specially come on the occasion.

Speaking exclusively, she said, "It was his dream to create and send an India physically challenged cricket team. Earlier this year BCCI, after years of deliberation finally agreed to the participation of India in the upcoming Physical disability cricket world series in August in UK in Worcestershire. So on his birthday it gives us immense pleasure in celebrating his dream slowly being fulfilled".

All Fools Day

"Personally dad was very humorous and would create a joke about anything whether it was a team meeting or it was about his birthday. His friends loved this trait about him and that's the reason his birthday falling on this day is very ironic".

Incidentally, April 1 is also the first day of the Financial Year in India.
