Sridevi's death: Here's what Bangladesh cricket team chief selector said

The outpouring of grief for Sridevi, who died due to accidental drowning in Dubai last week, continues.

Dhaka: The outpouring of grief following Sridevi’s sudden demise last week continues. While sports personalities in India and Pakistan have shared their thoughts about one of the finest Indian actress, it is now learnt that Sridevi was also a known figure in Bangladesh.

Sridevi, who died in Dubai due to accidental drowning, was also popular in Bangladesh, according to Bangladesh cricket team chief selector, Minazul Abedian.

"Sridevi was one of the first female superstars in Bollywood. We are and always will be avid fans of her," he said from Dhaka.

Incidentally, the chief selector's wife (Afroza Abedin Rina) also liked the actress.

"We saw many of her films and liked all of them. Sadly, her death is talked with the controversy and that's what saddens us most," he added.

Dubai police ruled out any foul play and the body was sent for the last rites in Mumbai on Wednesday.

"We deeply regret her loss," the chief selector signed off.

Bangladesh will take on hosts Sri Lanka and India in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, which kicks off on March 6.
