Working on controlling no-balls, says Jasprit Bumrah
Bengaluru: Bowling a dream, heart-stopping final over in Nagpur, Jasprit Bumrah set the pulses racing as he dragged the T20 series against England to the decider in Bengaluru.
The 23-year-old cricketer from Ahmedabad conceded just two runs and scalped two wickets to stun England, who had all but sealed the match with eight needed of the final over, into silence.
Ahead of the final T20 game here at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on Wednesday, Bumrah, who conceded several no-balls, said he has been working with coach Anil Kumble while taking guidance from senior colleague Ashish Nehra.
“I’ve been working on that. I worked with Anil sir also in the last match and before that. Measure your run-up and work something with the tape. I’m working on it and hopefully I’ll get some control on it,” said Bumrah.
“Also, Nehra has always been helpful. We have played in the World T20 together, so his guidance has always been valuable for me. He has played a lot of matches in international cricket, so he has a lot of experience.”
Bumrah also said that the team has been working on their fielding, as several misfields in the previous match at Nagpur almost cost them the series. “It’s always difficult when there is dew. In the last match, there was a lot of dew. The ball comes faster than you expect. The high catches also become difficult because the ball is wet. As a fielding unit, we had been doing well in the ODI series.”
Bumrah then threw light on the back of length deliveries that he regularly bowls at the death. “It depends on the wicket. In the previous match, we were playing in a bigger ground and the wicket was on the slower side. So over there, the back of length and slower deliveries become key.”
