Joe Root wants fitting end for visitors

“It's been a very tough tour and India have played very well but we have played some good cricket along the way''

Bengaluru: Having gone through an unsuccessful ‘winter’ in India, England batsman Joe Root revealed on Tuesday that it would be a fitting end to their efforts if they were to clinch the last T20 international, and the series, against India.

“‘It’s been a very tough tour and India have played very well but we have played some good cricket along the way and it would be nice to finish on, what we feel would be a deserved win and finish this tour,” said Root.

Having come within touching distance before letting victory slip through their fingers in the second T20 game, the England star has no misconceptions about the task ahead.

“It’s pretty straightforward where we are in the series and what we need to do. It’ll be pretty good to come back from the other night. It was obviously disappointing but we’ve got an opportunity to now,” he stressed.

England’s leading scorer in the series with 84 runs also spoke about the umpiring controversy that captain Eoin Morgan vented his frustration on after Root was adjudged leg before to Jasprit Bumrah in the final over. “Yes, very disappointed, but it happens sometimes unfortunately,” he opined, refusing to blame the umpire. So is the solution DRS?,” he added.
