CISF to Host All India Police Judo Cluster Championship
The CISF will host the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship in Hyderabad from July 23 to 30, featuring around 1,600 athletes from across the country.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board (AIPSCB), will host the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster Championship 2026 at the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, from July 23 to 30. The event will bring together around 1,600 athletes from 36 State Police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) organisations.
Details were announced at a curtain-raiser press conference at the National Industrial Security Academy (NISA) on Monday, addressed by Harpreet Kaur Sohi, Director/Inspector General, NISA, CISF, along with Olympian Parupalli Kashyap and rowing coach Ismail Beg.
Competitions will be held in Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate and Pencak Silat, with nearly 150 technical officials, including referees and judges, overseeing the events. Harpreet Kaur Sohi said the championship reflects CISF’s commitment to promoting sporting excellence among police and CAPF personnel, while providing athletes in uniform an opportunity to showcase their talent and progress to higher levels.
Parupalli Kashyap and Ismail Beg highlighted the close link between sports and uniformed services, noting that discipline, resilience, teamwork and perseverance are common to both. They expressed confidence that the championship would help identify athletes capable of representing India at higher levels, especially with the Asian Games 2026 approaching, where Judo, Wushu, Taekwondo and Karate are medal events.
The official mascot, VIRA, inspired by Telangana’s state animal, the spotted deer (Chital), symbolises vibrancy, impact, resilience and agility. The Sports Authority of Telangana, Telangana Police Academy, AIPSCB and the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) are supporting the championship through infrastructure, logistics, technical supervision and anti-doping protocols. The previous edition was hosted by Jammu & Kashmir Police in Srinagar.
