Champions Trophy: India bowling coach heads home due to personal emergency

Morne Morkel traveled to Dubai along with the Indian team on February 15

Team India bowling coach Morne Morkel left the Indian camp in Dubai due to a personal emergency ahead of the much-awaited ICC Champions Trophy, set to begin on Wednesday.

The South African former speedster traveled to Dubai along with the Indian team on February 15. He also oversaw training for a couple days but he missed practice session on Monday. It was later revealed that Morkel had to leave home because of his father's sudden death.
His return and joining of the Men In Blue is not confirmed yet, according to media reports. With senior bowler Bumrah missing out due to injury and Siraj not finding a place in the squad owing to poor form, the departure of bowling coach is another blow to the Blues ahead of the marquee series.
Meanwhile, the 50-over ICC tournament will begin tomorrow (Wednesday) and India will take on Bangladesh in their first outing on February 20.
