Sharapova in high spirits
Since Maria Sharapova admitted on March 7 that she had tested positive for meldonium at the Australian Open, the former World No.1 has been keeping herself busy, relaxing and trying to stay fit.
It was recently revealed that the Russian star has a chance of seeing her suspension from tennis overturned with the World Anti-Doping Agency considering changing its position on the banned substance she admitted to taking for a decade.
And on Saturday morning she looked in good spirits as she took to Instagram to post a smiley photograph of herself posing with her arms spread wide as she arrived at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Her upload was captioned “Made it! #Coachella” ahead of the three-day annual festival at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Sharapova was offered a potential route back into tennis on Wednesday night as WADA admitted that they were unsure how long meldonium can stay in the body — something which led to a swift attack from the Russian’s lawyer.
It is still not known how much was found in Sharapova’s system when she tested positive on January 26, but if it is less than 15 microgrammes per millilitre she could be reinstated temporarily, or let off altogether.
