Badminton champion Sindhu dedicates Olympic medal to Hyderabad police

Hyderabad: Badminton champion P.V. Sindhu, who won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics recently, said that she dedicated her medal to the service of the police department, as a token of respect and gratitude.

She was speaking at a felicitation programme organised by the Hyderabad police. Sindhu also released a book, ‘The Second Wave’, a compilation of efforts made by the police to battle the second wave of Covid-19.

 

Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar showered praise on Sindhu for her achievement and recalled her performance in the international badminton circuit in the last five years, and the character she displayed in maintaining fitness and other aspects despite testing conditions.

Addressing the senior police officers, Sindhu’s father P.V. Ramana, an Arjuna awardee, thanked every police officer and considered it to be a moment of pride and honour to be felicitated by the top brass of the police.

Sindhu thanked the commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad police for supporting her during the lockdown by providing passes.

 

Shikha Goel additional commissioner, Crimes and SIT, said Sindhu epitomised the spirit of every Indian woman in showcasing the true character of “never say no” in any situation. She praised her parents’ decision for working towards realizing their child’s dream of becoming a top badminton player.
