Mumbai: Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu joined hands to beat Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei 5-4 in a doubles exhibition game. These players were a part of 'The Legends Vision' event which took place at the NSCI stadium here on Saturday.

The badminton fans in the city were in for a treat as legends like Pullela Gopichand, Prakash Padukone, Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Peter Gade and Lee Yong Dae took center stage. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar also attended the event.

Apart from Saina and Sindhu, the other Indian shuttlers to take part in the exhibition event were Super Series champion and current world number 2 Kidmabi Srikanth and HS Prannoy and B Sai Praneeth.

Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei are known to be fiercest rivals in the singles competition, but for a change, they played as partners in this exhibition game.

The game between all four superstars was called the clash between Indian Tigress and The Lions.

There was a moment when Lee Chong tried to play his trademark smash, but the point was awarded to the Indian duo as they were not allowed to hit ‘too hard’. In the end, Sindhu and Saina went on to clinch the game.

In the earlier game, Sindhu and Lin Dan took on Saina and Lee Chong Wei. The game was a close affair, but in the end, it was the combination of Lin Dan and Sindhu who won the match 9-8

Peter Gade and Lin Dan teamed up to take on Taufik Hidayat and Lee Chong Wei. More than 5000 spectators who had gathered to watch the legends were stunned to see 40-year-old Gade's energy on the court as he attacked his opponents with some destructive shots.

Lee Chang Wee also played some brutal shot. In the end, Taufik and Lee Chong Wei went on to beat Gade and Lin Dan 9-6.

Pullela Gopichand took on Peter Gade in a doubles match with upcoming badminton players partnering them. The game was a repeat of the 2001 All England Championships semifinals between the two.

Gade though had the better of Gopi this time around by beating him and his partner 9-4. Gopichand was seen encouraging the girl during the game and giving her more chance to showcase her skill despite her mistimed shots.

There was also a triples match played in the end. It was Sindhu, Srikanth and Hidayat on one side and HS Prannoy, Yong Dae and Nehwal on the other end.
