Mumbai: Two years back, actor and producer Sonu Sood had stated that he acquired the rights to produce PV Sindhu’s biopic. After Sindhu finally won her maiden gold medal at the Badminton World Federation World Championships (BWF) in Switzerland, the producers have got a great climax.
However, the actor to portray PV Sindhu’s character hasn’t been found yet. Although in an interview with a top media house, the 24-year-old has opined that if anyone wants to portray Sindhu’s character then that person should be none other than Bollywood’s top actor Deepika Padukone.
It’s not a hidden fact that Deepika Padukone used to play badminton actively during her school days. Moreover, she also used to take part in national level championships. Deepika Padukone, the daughter of renowned shuttler Prakash Padukone initially wanted to start her career in badminton, but later on, Deepika quit badminton and became a fashion model, only to pursue a career in acting.
However, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, gold medallist PV Sindhu was asked whom does she think would play her character perfectly, the 24-year-old female shuttler stated, “Would definitely want Deepika Padukone to play the character. She had played the game and is a good actor, too. But then, the makers would take the final decision and I trust them.”
Earlier, in an interview with the BT, Sonu hinted about the lead actress for PV Sindhu’s biopic, and said, “You can’t teach someone to play world-class badminton in just a few months. It’s important that the leading lady knows the game well, which makes it a challenging task for us. Every film comes with its destiny. I don’t know who is destined to play Sindhu, but yes, Deepika Padukone has always been our first choice.”
Despite the actor’s statement, we still have to wait for an official declaration from the producers to know about the leading actress and the person who would portray the role of Coach Pullela Gopichand.
