Cricket or not, Sachin Tendulkar’s toes are never tired. Ever since retirement, the iconic cricketer’s nonchalant flick and straight drives were replaced with selfies in holiday spots coupled with gourmet enchantment. But now, he is all set to play host to tourists on a cruise as the brand ambassador.
Retired batting maestro SachinTendulkar has been named as the brand ambassador of a newly-launched pleasure cruise along with his former Australian opponents, Shane Warne and Brett Lee.
The pleasure trip provides the guests an opportunity to mix with top ex-cricketers and show business personalities.
The cruise journey, starting in March, will include trips to destinations in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore, apart from India.
The show business personalities who have been tied up are stand-up comic Vir Das, DJ Khushi, singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Neha Kakkar, actress Neha Dhupia, rapper Badshah and well-known chef Sanjeev Kapoor.
It is a new initiative undertaken by CEO Somesh Jagga and Vice-Chairman Josh Hill of Monarch Cruise.
The 40-year-old cricket icon said that the idea to join the cruise was floated to him when he met former Australia tearaway fast bowler Lee in London.
"I feel it is a great opportunity for Indians who love travelling and it's money worth spending. When the cruise is in Mumbai I will spend an evening there. Here's an opportunity for 2200 people (passengers) to make new friends when travelling around. It will be a special treat for everyone," said Tendulkar.
The cruise offers four seven-day legs, two 13-day trips and one 26-day travelling experience.
The cabins on the cruise are available from Rs 79,000 per person going up to Rs 8.4 lakh (twin pricing) for a 13-day travel, as per the brochure released to the media.
