Youth Stabbed To Death By Two Drug Peddlers

Hyderabad: A 32-year-old man, Md Waseem, was allegedly stabbed to death by two persons who were involved with him in drug peddling, Rajendranagar police said on Thursday. Waseem died on the way to the hospital. The assailants were identified as Sohail and Ilyas. Police said the duo suspected that Waseem was passing on information to the police about their drug peddling in Upparpally. Following an argument, the two persons, said to be associates of the victim, stabbed Waseem, police said. Waseem and the accused were earlier arrested for drug peddling cases, the police said.

Accused in Sexual harassment Case Convicted to 5 Yrs Imprisonment

Hyderabad: The XII Additional Sessions Judge, Nampally, for Pocso Act cases has convicted one V. Manikanta to five years imprisonment for behaving inappropriately with a minor in June 2023. Based on a complaint, he was arrested for touching and talking to her in an inappropriate manner and harassing her, Musheerabad police said on Thursday.

Police said the Bharosa team provided counselling to assist the victim and her family, moral and emotional support through consistent follow-up sessions and involvement in workshops. The case was investigated by

Ch. Prasadh Reddy and inspector G. Raj Gopal Reddy of Musheerabad and the probe and counselling were monitored by DCP, women’s safety, Dr Lavanya N.J.P., ACP Prasanna Lakshmi and Bharosa inspector P. Padma. Police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar appreciated the efforts of the stake holders in securing their conviction.

Alert Bus driver Helps 42 Passengers Deboard On Noticing Fire In Vehicle

Hyderabad: An alert driver noticed a fire in his bus and quickly helped 42 passengers deboard, preventing what could have been a major tragedy, police said on Thursday. They were part of a group of 150 persons from a real estate company based in Nagole who were travelling in three buses to Srisailam for Ganesh nimajjanam and darshan when the incident occurred near Gayatrinagar on the Srisailam highway.

Meerpet station house officer Bandari Shobhan said the group at set off at 1.40 am. At about 2 am, the convoy stopped at a diesel bunk near Gayatrinagar. Two of the buses were being fuelled while the third waited along the highway.

Fire was noticed in the engine compartment of the third bus (TS15 T 8558), belonging to Shri Laxmi Narasimha Travels. Driver M. Mahesh immediately alerted the passengers and helped them alight from the vehicle, the SHP said. All passengers were safely evacuated from the bus without delay; no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. The vehicle was completely gutted.

Shobhan said that on receiving a complaint the command control centre alerted the fire department which rushed to the spot. Police went to the spot and ensured the pilgrims were taken to their destination in the other buses. A case of fire accident has been registered and investigation is in progress, a police officer said.

iBomma Piracy Case Accused Ravi allowed To use his bank accounts

Hyderabad: A city court on Thursday issued orders allowing iBomma movie piracy case accused Ravi to use his bank accounts for his basic requirements. However, the court refused to release the `3 crore that the special investigation team (SIT) probing the case had frozen.

The court order followed a petition filed by Ravi's counsel stating that he was facing severe financial difficulties as all his bank accounts had been seized and that he was unable to support his family. Counsel also requested the court to direct the investigators to immediately release the frozen `3 crore, police said. After hearing, the court allowed Ravi to use the bank accounts for his own needs for normal transactions but refused to issue orders to release the money, police said.

Abdul Bari, convict in the Pranay murder case, dies in jail

Hyderabad: Abdul Bari, 50, the fourth accused in the Miryalaguda honour killing case of Pranay, died while undergoing imprisonment in the case at the Cherlapally Central Jail on Thursday. Police said he suffered chest pain at about 3 pm and was immediately shifted to Gandhi Hospital by jail authorities. Doctors declared that he died while undergoing treatment.

Bari, a resident of Nalgonda, was convicted of arranging the contract killer for the 2018 murder of Pranay. Following the trial, the Nalgonda court convicted him and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The body was taken to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary. Bari was an accused in the murder case of Gujarat former home minister Haren Pandya.

Pranay, 24, was hacked to death in full view on September 14, 2018, when he was leaving a private hospital in Miryalaguda along with his pregnant wife Amrutha and mother Premalatha. Her family was opposed to their marriage for caste reasons. The murder was masterminded by Amrutha’s father Maruti Rao, who died by suicide in 2020 while on bail.

8th class student dies - hit by RTC bus

Hyderabad: A 13-year-old girl died after a RTC bus hit with the scooter she was travelling on near Narsapur crossroads at about 5 pm on Thursday, Balanagar police said. The victim, a Class 8 student, was travelling with her father Pennam Shettiraju from HAL when the bus (TG09 Z 0597) from the Kushaiguda depot rammed into their scooter. The victim fell on the road and was run over. Locals rushed her to a hospital, where doctors examined her and declared her dead. Balanagar police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the girl's mother Pennam Mastya Pavani Paripurna and commenced investigations.
