Dalit Youth Killed Over Love Affair in Jagtial

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old Dalit man, in love with a woman from a different community, was stabbed to death by her family members. He had allegedly shared her photographs on social media. The woman’s family members were against the relationship, police said.

The incident took place at Kishanraopet in Velgatoor mandal of Jagtial district on Thursday.

After he shared the woman's pictures on a social media portal and WhatsApp groups, the woman's father and other family members decided to eliminate Ch. Mallesh. They detained him at Kishanraopet and stabbed him to death.

Velgatoor inspector A. Ramakrishna Reddy said that cases had been registered against Mallesh for allegedly posting the woman's pictures on social media.

Mallesh and the woman were in love. However, the woman's parents refused the marriage proposal and began searching for a suitable match. The woman belongs to the BC community.

Upon noticing marriage proposals being considered for the woman, Mallesh went to her residence and created a nuisance a few days ago. The woman's father lodged a complaint and cases were registered.

While the investigation was underway, the woman's father Rajaiah, his brother Mallaiah, and another person named Harish noticed Mallesh proceeding towards his residence.

"Mallesh was detained by the three persons and assaulted. Later, he was taken to an isolated location in a hired autorickshaw. The three persons stabbed Mallesh to death with knives. He died on the spot, which locals witnessed," the inspector said.

It was reported that the police had detained three persons in connection with the case. A murder case was registered against them, and the body was shifted to the area hospital for post-mortem. The police also set up a checkpost in the village. The district police officers are likely to announce the arrests of the three suspects on Saturday.
