WARANGAL: A 20-year-old man died by suicide at Chintalapalli village in Thorrur mandal of Mahbubabad district after his parents refused to buy him a new mobile phone, police said.
The deceased was identified as K. Sai Kumar. Police said he had damaged his mobile phone recently and had been asking his parents, who work as daily wage labourers, to buy him another handset. On Friday night, Sai Kumar, allegedly in an inebriated condition, argued with his parents over the demand. They told him they could not afford a new phone immediately and asked him to wait for a few days.
Police said Sai Kumar later took the extreme step while the family was asleep. His family found him dead early on Saturday morning. Police shifted the body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination and registered a case.
