YISU Plans Digital Platform To Skill One Lakh Students

YISU Vice Chancellor V.L.V.S.S. Subba Rao said the university intended to expand the digital platform's reach nationwide with additional online courses.

Hyderabad:The Young India Skills University (YISU), which will celebrate its first anniversary on Friday, is gearing up to launch a virtual university, ‘YISU Digital Universe’, to provide AI-enabled modern skill courses across multiple disciplines. The platform, expected to be operational within two months, will cater to over one lakh students and offer integrated features such as artificial intelligence (AI)-driven admissions, attendance tracking, proctored assessments, interactive query handling, interview modules, digital certification and job placement integration.

YISU Vice Chancellor V.L.V.S.S. Subba Rao said the university intended to expand the digital platform's reach nationwide with additional online courses. "We are pursuing collaborations with international universities and industry partners to provide world-class content in advanced fields," Rao added.

Subba Rao noted that YISU commenced operations on November 4 last year and has since completed 17 courses in sectors including healthcare, pharma, logistics, manufacturing, BFSI and IT. Despite running from a temporary campus, the university trained 507 students in its first year, with 82 per cent receiving job offers. Several new courses are in the pipeline.

YISU, a flagship initiative of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, secured legislative and Cabinet approvals after its foundation stone was laid on August 1, 2024.

The state government has allotted 58 acres of land for the university, and the first phase of construction, covering 3.6 lakh sq.ft, is expected to be completed by December. The campus will feature 43 classrooms, 84,000 sq.ft of lab space, separate hostels for 300 boys and girls and an administrative block.
