Yadagirigutta and Bhadrachalam Likely to Gain from Rs.5,000 Cr Fund for City Economic Regions

Yadagirigutta which has the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam, Warangal with the 1,000-Pillar Temple and the Bhadrakali Temple, and Bhadrachalam with the Sree Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam are likely to meet the criteria and could secure government help.

Hyderabad: Enhanced infrastructure, a strengthened disaster management system, improved real estate demand and job opportunities are on cards for Tier II and III cities which can become investment-ready, said experts and stakeholders from various sectors against the background of proposals made in the Union Budget 2026-27.

The Centre has proposed continued focusd on developing infrastructure in cities with over 5 lakh population which have expanded to become growth centres. This proposed large-scale enhancement of public infrastructure will prove beneficial to Warangal, Yadagirigutta, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Mahbunnagar.

In addition, the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) of Rs.1 lakh crore to implement the proposals for ‘Cities as Growth Hubs’, ‘Creative Redevelopment of Cities’ and ‘Water and Sanitation’ and the proposal for a Rs.5,000 crore fund to develop the city economic regions (CER) and temple towns will contribute to the growth of these urban local bodies (ULBs).

These elements clubbed together will have a positive impact, said experts including a municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) official and a planning official from commissioner and director of municipal administration (CDMA).

Jayant Kumar, managing director and General Manager at Hilti India, said that Budget reinforced infrastructure-led growth with capital expenditure estimated at Rs.12.2 lakh crore. “Investments in highways, metros, railways, airports, power, seven high-speed rail corridors and new National Waterways will significantly accelerate construction activity and project scale,” he said.

R. Ravi Kumar, president, Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), agreed that Tier II and III cities will be developed. He said the proposal for high-speed and semi-high-speed rail connectivity linking Hyderabad with major economic centres such as Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai would be beneficial.

“ These projects will enhance labour mobility, supply-chain efficiency, regional integration and offer a sustainable alternative to short-haul flights,” he said.
