Workshop on Battery Waste Management in Hyderabad
Technical sessions will focus on battery recycling technologies, critical mineral recovery, EPR regulations and challenges faced by the recycling industry.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Pollution Control Board (TGPCB), in association with IIT Hyderabad and support from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), will organise a one-day workshop on battery waste management and recovery of critical minerals, at Sanathnagar on August 19.
The workshop is being held as part of the pre-event activities for the 10th World Circular Economy Forum, It will bring together researchers, industry representatives and regulators to discuss battery waste management and recovery of critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt and nickel from spent batteries.
Technical sessions will focus on battery recycling technologies, critical mineral recovery, EPR regulations and challenges faced by the recycling industry. A panel discussion will also examine recovery of critical minerals and rare earth elements from spent lithium-ion batteries. The participants include Telangana Pollution Control Board, CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Chennai, CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CSIR-CECRI), IIT Hyderabad and Amara Raja Energy & Mobility Ltd., and HBL Power Systems Ltd.
