“Our Tribal Welfare institutions are home to lakhs of children. While education remains our core focus, nutrition and hygiene are essential for a child’s overall development,” TGTWREIS and EMRS secretary K. Seethalakshmi explained.

Hyderabad: To improve nutrition and hygiene standards in Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGTWREIS) and Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), a state-level workshop was held under the programme Poushtika Aaharam – Shubramaina Gurukulam on Wednesday.

TGTWREIS and EMRS secretary K. Seethalakshmi emphasised the importance of strengthening nutrition and sanitation practices in schools. She said the initiative enables thousands of cooks and kitchen staff by equipping them with scientifically grounded and practically applicable skills.

“Our Tribal Welfare institutions are home to lakhs of children. While education remains our core focus, nutrition and hygiene are essential for a child’s overall development,” she explained. The training covered key areas including the preparation of balanced, culturally appropriate nutritious meals, personal hygiene and clean kitchen practices.

The programme aligns with national initiatives such as Poshan Abhiyan and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, reaffirming the state government's commitment to holistic tribal empowerment.
