Women Lawyers Seek 30% Quota In Telangana Bar Council Polls
The protesters urged that the Supreme Court’s directions on providing reservation be implemented from the current election cycle, noting that the election notification had not yet been issued.

Hyderabad: Women advocates on Friday demanded that the Bar Council of Telangana implement the 30 per cent reservation for women in the upcoming Telangana State Bar Council elections. Holding placards at the Bar Council office gate, they said it was unjust to deny reservations to women in elections conducted by a body meant to protect justice and equality.
The protesters urged that the Supreme Court’s directions on providing reservation be implemented from the current election cycle, noting that the election notification had not yet been issued.
Advocate Dr G. Subhashini, who has filed an impleadment petition in the Supreme Court on the matter, stated that the persistent lack of women’s representation in the Bar Council was discriminatory. After the demonstration, the women lawyers met the Bar Council chairman and secretary to press their demands.
