Women Bus Driver Training Programme Launched At Praja Bhavan
The programme was chaired by SERP chief executive officer Divya Devarajan: Reports

HYDERABAD: As part of an initiative to train women as bus drivers, the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) has taken the lead in empowering women to enter the transport sector. The Telangana government has already appointed a woman driver in the TGSRTC, marking a significant step in this direction.
On Monday, SERP, in collaboration with a private bus operator, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Praja Bhavan to train women as bus drivers. The programme was chaired by SERP chief executive officer Divya Devarajan.
Several women aspirants who enrolled for the training programme expressed happiness upon having got the opportunity and said that they would serve as responsible and professional bus drivers in the future.
During a briefing on the initiative, the organisers said the partner bus company was among the first in India to formally support a women-led bus driver training programme of this scale. The collaboration, they said, reflects the belief that the future of mobility must also be inclusive.
The organisers added that by providing women with hands-on driving experience and exposure to electric bus operations, the initiative aims not only to create new career pathways but also to build a confident and diverse workforce in the transport sector.
