Woman’s Body in Car: Father “Instigated” Murder, Claims Accused

WARANGAL: In a major twist to the detection of a woman’s body in the boot of a car in Elkathurthi, the police on Monday quoted the main accused Yadelli Vinod Kumar as saying that the deceased’s father, Ankathi Rajesham, had instigated him to kill her.
It was on Friday, August 21, that locals noticed a foul smell emanating from a car parked in a lane near the Elkathurthi agricultural market check-post. They alerted the village secretary.
On inspecting the vehicle, police found the body of an unidentified young woman, aged between 25 and 35, in the boot of the vehicle.
The Elkathurthi police launched an investigation. Acting on the directions of the Warangal police commissioner and Central Zone DCP, three special teams were formed under Kazipet ACP Prashanth Reddy to trace the accused.
Police took Vinod Kumar into custody on Sunday from near a seeds processing plant on the outskirts of Elkathurthi.
According to police, the accused and the victim, Ankathi Manasa, had an argument at his room in Karimnagar after she insisted that he marry her.
During interrogation, Vinod told police that he informed her father about the dispute, following which Rajesham allegedly told him that Manasa was causing trouble to the family too and asked him to “do something” to resolve the issue.
Police said Vinod Kumar would be produced before a court for judicial remand.
