Woman Wins Sarpanch Elections with 1 Vote in Nirmal District

A person, Mutyala Indrakaran Reddy from US came to Nirmal four days ago and exercised his franchise in support of his daughter-in-law Mutyala Srideva during Gram Panchayat elections

Hyderabad: One vote changed the fortunes of a woman who emerged victorious and became a Sarpanch during Bagapur Gram Panchayat elections in Lokeshwaram Mandal of Nirmal district on Sunday.

This election result is a classic example of how each vote is valuable to win elections. The urban educated voters are so lethargic to cast their vote at the polling booth during every election leading to less voting percentage. However, a person, Mutyala Indrakaran Reddy from US came to Nirmal four days ago and exercised his franchise in support of his daughter-in-law Mutyala Srideva during Gram Panchayat elections.

Of the total 426 votes, 378 votes were polled in the Gram Panchayat. Sriveda got 189 votes while her opponent Harashaswathi got 188 votes while one vote was declared invalid. Indrakaran Reddy’s vote in support of Sriveda helped her to win the elections.
