Woman Throttled to Death by Husband in Car at Khammam
The incident has seen light when Vidhya Sagar’s friend alerted the police after the latter telephoned him and informed him of the death of his wife.
Nalgonda: A 30-year-old woman was allegedly throttled to death by her husband in a car at an isolated place in Khammam on Wednesday late night.
The victim, Chinnaboina Renuka, was found dead in a car parked near Pragathi School on Khammam-Yellandu Road in the city. After killing his wife, her husband, Medipally Vidhya Sagar (44), escaped from the place by abandoning the car and dead body of his wife on Khammam-Yellandu road.
The incident has seen light when Vidhya Sagar’s friend alerted the police after the latter telephoned him and informed him of the death of his wife. The police traced the location of the car with the location of the mobile phone of the victim and rushed to the place. They found the body of Renuka in a car and shifted it to the mortuary of the Government General Hospital at Khammam.
According to the police, Vidhya Sagar and Renuka fell in love and got married about four months back. The couple were living in Kasaba Bazar in Khammam. Vidhya Sagar, who was working as a driver of a car, was native of Rompedu of Yellandu mandal in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. The couple left the rented house in the evening of Wednesday. Vidhya Sagar developed a doubt that his wife had an extramarital affair with another person and has been harassing him for the last few days. It was suspected that the couple might have picked up a quarrel on the matter when travelling in the car, and Vidhya Sagar strangled her wife to death.
Renuka’s parents alleged that their daughter was killed by her husband with a plan. Vidhya Sagar was earlier married to a woman and got divorced from her due to family disputes. Vidhya Sagar trapped their daughter by offering to purchase a new house in her name and got married to her.
According to the sources in the police, the police arrested Vidhya Sagar from a place in Khammam and interrogated him. He reportedly confessed to killing his wife. Khanapuram Haveli police filed a case against Vidhya Sagar under section 101 of BNS and took up investigation.
